|Laura Conners, 500 CYT
Artist and co-owner of Split Cedar Studios, Laura Conners has been a yoga practitioner since 1994, and teaching since 2007. She completed her 200-hour yoga teacher training with Cityoga of Indianapolis, IN and her 500-hour certification through the Mindfulness Yoga & Meditation Program at Spirit Rock Center of California in 2012. Laura teaches Hatha yoga with an emphasis on mindfulness, a practice that combines breath awareness and movement to increase flexibility and strength, promote greater ease and concentration, and create relaxation and balance in the body and mind.
|Jamie Sweet Douglas, 200 CYT
Jamie received her 200-hour training to become a registered yoga teacher (RYT200) in August 2016. Since then she has taught vinyasa-style classes at Quest for Balance studio. Jamie also developed a chair yoga class for the studio and has led summer and winter Hiking and Yoga classes.
Jamie completed training in the fall of 2016 to become a space holder/leader for the Yoga of 12 Step Recovery (Y12SR). She has also completed a Yoga for Seniors Teacher training at Kripalu in May of 2018.
|Kimarie Green, 200 CYT
Kim Green began her yoga practice with Diane Ault in 2004 and returned to yoga again at Quest for Balance in 2017. Kim completed her 200-hour yoga teacher training with Indiana Yoga in Lebanon, IN in October of 2018. Kim’s practice is strongly influenced by Laura’s gentle and mindful approach and Jeanne’s continuous learning and sharing of innovative ways to move. “It gets me grinning. I am delighted to have this opportunity to practice with you at such a warm and inviting studio. And so many great props!”
|Laurie Hatcher, 200 CYT
Laurie Hatcher, 200CYT, has been a yoga instructor for the last 5 years. Her children introduced her to a style of yoga 6 years ago and she fell in love with the practice and its healing properties. Laurie received her first 200CYT from Sterling Hot Yoga Works in 2014. Since then, she ventured into another 200CYT program to be trained in teaching Vinyasa yoga. Her style of teaching encourages practitioners to challenge their mind and body to be at its best. In her classes you will build
|Joey Karczewski, 200 CYT
Joey began practicing yoga in 2013 to improve his performance as a swimmer at Crown Point High School. He instantly fell in love with the movements and developed a daily practice. In 2016 he took both of his passions, yoga and swimming, with him to Wabash College to obtain his bachelors in German & French. In the summer of 2018 he completed Vinyasa Yoga Teacher training through Vinyasa Yoga School in Rishikesh India. He offers a fluid, dynamic approach to cultivating strength, grace, relaxation, and embodied awareness through practice. He plans on owning his own studio someday somewhere in Europe.
|Michelle Moore, 200 CYT
Michelle has been practicing yoga for 7 years and is passionate about fitness, learning and living holistically. Michelle will complete her 200-hr yoga teacher training with IN Yoga in Lebanon, IN May 2019. “Yoga inspires me to live each moment more mindfully, releasing stress and tension to the mat.” Her intention as a Yoga instructor is to share Yoga with the World. She believes anyone and everyone can benefit from yoga. Michelle’s goal for her classes is to share her passion of yoga with others and that her students step off the mat feeling refreshed, nourished, and balanced.
Sherry Mou is Professor of Modern Languages (Chinese) and Director of East Asian Studies at DePauw University. She has practiced Taichi for more than 20 years and is always fond of practicing it with others.
|Debi Swinford, 200 CYT
Debi has been practicing for yoga for 20 years and teaching for 15. Her unique classes are a combination of meditation, breathwork and vinyasa flow, building strength while finding peace, calm and power. She also teaches Pilates, toning, meditation, and is working toward Reiki Practitioner Certification. For 45 years, Debi has been an endurance athlete, completing a host of single and multi-day endurance events including 3 Iron Man triathlons and countless adventure races. Debi resides in Fillmore where she celebrates her two grown children and enjoys being Nanny to two beautiful grandchildren. She received her 200 hour Yoga Teacher Training from CityYoga in 2012.
|Julianne “j” Miranda, CPCC, RMT
Bringing a host of wellness practices to the studio, Julianne has the beautiful fortune of owning Quest for Balance Wellness. Julianne certified as a Life Coach in 2005, Reiki Master Teacher in 2010, and is a mindful drummer and sound therapist. Classes offered include Reiki for Self-care and all levels of Reiki Training, Mindful Drumming, Sound Healing, and personal development workshops. Julianne also offers individual Reiki, Life Coaching, drumming and sound healing sessions. Julianne leads weekly meditation sessions for the student run DePauw University Meditation Club and has been the circle keeper for the Greencastle Community Drum Circle for 9 years. Julianne joins the studio full time in June, having completed a 30 year career as a higher education administrator and faculty member.
